As a 40 year US-Japan business veteran I found Ms. Lipschutz’s book both affirmative and revelatory. Much of what she covers in the book is to me second nature, but the way she explains it provided me with new insights about the whys and wherefores of what I have come to take for granted. Having a framework upon which to organize your thoughts and actions is extremely valuable and Ms. Lipschutz takes great care in laying a solid foundation that you can refer to again and again.

The usefulness of this book is not limited to international cross-cultural situations. In fact, it is essential for all who deal with others coming from a different vantage point than themselves. As our world becomes more and more specialized and more and more diverse, I find the number of micro-cultures growing exponentially. Accordingly, the ability to listen, analyze, and inquire becomes paramount in any effort to truly transcend meanings and intentions.
